How Much Does SEO and Search Engine Marketing Cost?

When marketing is done right, it pays you. Effective marketing is an investment with calculated returns, but if you want to look at it as a cost why not consider the cost of doing it completely wrong? The biggest cost will come from missed opportunities, missed opportunities that could go to your competitors!

In order to get your marketing right, you need the right people on your team.


I am the right person to be on your team.

SEO has long been sold as a black art or voodoo known only to a few gurus and these people have exploited this myth (and your lack of knowledge) to take advantage and charge ridiculous fees for SEO and search engine marketing.

If you were to call SEO companies and ask for a quote, the results would vary but you will get quotes stating anywhere from hundreds of £££’s to thousands of £££’s per month.


I won’t charge ridiculous fees.

To help you with your decision, I suggest that you read below to see a typical example of local SEO rates and then take a couple of minutes spending time to understand what I do in terms of SEO and search engine marketing at much lower costs.

Local rates again vary even into the high hundreds of £££’s per month but lets look at one genuine quote I was given recently when I done a bit of localised “mystery shopping” whilst working for a Lincolnshire based client.

My team were recently sent an email by a Lincolnshire based SEO company stating they would do SEO for me for £200 per month. I should have been flattered as this was a one off promotional offer with 50% discount off their usual charge of £400 per month.

All this from a company that couldn’t be found on Page 1 of Google (or in fact Pages 2 & 3) for the search terms “SEO Lincoln”, “search engine marketing Lincoln”, “search engine marketing Lincolnshire” and “SEO Lincolnshire”.


Why would anyone use them if they themselves can’t even be found on the major search engines for common terms relating to services they offer?

Determining the best SEO company to use between “SEO company A” and “SEO company B” is difficult as there are many skills that we share, but there are also many varying opinions on the best practices. There is only one number one position in each search engine for a given keyword or keyword phrase. That is the goal of SEO, but the methods used to get there often vary greatly between SEO companies.

So when it comes to costs, until you recognise the difference between counting efforts and counting results, you will not be ready to do business with me, so the cost is irrelevant. What I will say is that I won’t charge ridiculous fees for SEO and search engine marketing.


Stop Sabotaging Your Business!

As you can see from my bio I have worked with many companies and I know that the first knee-jerk reaction for many companies during hard economic climates is to stop spending money, and marketing is usually one of the areas to look for savings. This is the wrong thing to do!
